Chart settings anatomy
To configure your chart, you need to be in edit mode.
When you first create a chart, you will automatically enter edit mode after selecting a data source.
To edit an existing chart, open it and click Settings in the top-right corner:
All Agile Reports & Gadgets share the same general layout for chart configuration, whether you’re using a Velocity, Burnup Burndown, or Cycle Time chart:
1. Chart name and description
At the top, you can rename your chart and add a description.
2. Save, export, and help menu
Use the top-right controls to:
Explore other apps by Broken Build (link to Marketplace).
Import/export settings.
Access help (release notes, documentation, report an issue).
Save or close the chart.
3. Chart scope and grouping
Select what period or work items are shown and how the x-axis is grouped. Depending on the chart type, you can:
Show sprints, weeks, or months
Include completed, open, or status-changed items
Adjust the visible time range or sprint count
4. Visualization settings
Customize how data is displayed on the chart. Common options include:
Switching between bars, lines, or stacked bars
Toggling between absolute values and percentages
Showing or hiding metric labels and averages
Selecting statistical measures or percentiles
Adding highlights or target lines to visualize goals
5. Chart views
Each chart type offers multiple analytical views. Use the tabs above the chart to switch between them:
Velocity charts: Cross-team, Individual, Benchmarking
Burnup burndown charts: Burnup, Burndown, Sprint/Daily burndown
Cycle time charts: Histogram, Trend, Time in status
6. Right-hand panel
Use the collapsible right-hand panel to adjust:
Data source – choose boards, projects, releases, epics, or JQL filters.
Calculation – configure estimation fields, custom statuses, and status groups, average calculation logic, etc.
Issue filter – filter by issue type, epic, release, user, or a custom JQL query.
7. Main chart area
The main chart area visualizes your selected metrics over time. Hover over any point to view detailed tooltips, or click an element (bar, line segment, sprint/interval zone) to open its Breakdown and Issue list below.
The chart updates instantly as you adjust filters or settings.
9. App version
At the bottom of the page, you’ll see the current version of the app, with a link to the Marketplace listing.
8. Breakdown and Issue list
Below the chart:
Breakdown table – segment results by board, project, issue type, status, or assignee.
Issue list – see the exact work items contributing to each metric, with clickable links back to Jira.
