When projects are delayed, use this chart to pinpoint which statuses are causing the most hold-ups and take action to rebalance workloads.

Tips:

  • Identify delays: see exactly where tasks are held up.

  • Optimize transitions: understand and improve handoffs between statuses.

  • Balance workloads: ensure tasks aren't bottlenecked in any one status.

How to read the Time in Status Cycle Time Chart

  • Y-axis displays a unit based on the analyzed data by the next logic: weeks (if the maximum metric ≥ 8 days), days (if the maximum metric ≥ 8 hours), or hours (otherwise).

  • X-axis represents the selected grouping option (e.g., sprints, weeks).

  • Stacked bars: represent the total time issues spent on various statuses during the selected grouped time frame.

    • The widest area indicates the status where tasks spent the most time, signaling potential delays or bottlenecks.

    • The narrowest area represents statuses where tasks moved quickly, highlighting areas with efficient transitions.
