Import/Export: gadgets migration Data Center to Cloud
Agile Cycle Time Charts app operates with data stored in Jira and stores only gadget-specific configuration. Thus, the migration from Data Center to Cloud is a two-step process.
Note:
We recommend updating the Agile Cycle Time Charts Data Center app to the latest version before migration.
Step 1
Migrate Jira data such as projects, dashboards, issues, users, etc... from Data Center to Cloud. Atlassian recommends using JCMA (Jira Cloud Migration Assistant | Atlassian Marketplace) for this.
Step 2
Once the Jira data is in Cloud, the Agile Cycle Time Charts’s configuration can be migrated. To do this, we recommend using the configuration export-import functionality. Follow these steps to migrate specific gadgets from Data Center to Cloud:
Open the gadget you want to migrate in Jira Data Center and click “Export” → “Chart settings”:
Create the new gadget in Jira Cloud, navigate to gadget settings and choose the “Import settings” option in the menu, then upload the exported file:
Note, that there is validation logic that checks whether all Jira data specified in exported configuration exists. For example, in our case the board with the id
1does not exist on our Jira Cloud. Any missing data will be shown in warning messages after loading settings file:Click ”Import” and the configuration will be imported. However, we had some warnings in the previous step, you may get one if some of the data in imported settings is missing on your Jira instance. Let’s break down and fix the warnings we got: there is a board missing in the data source configuration, so we need to choose the existing board here:
The chart is ready to use after all the missing data is restored.
