Chart settings anatomy
To configure your chart, you need to be in edit mode.
When you first create a chart, you will automatically enter edit mode after selecting a data source.
To edit an existing chart, open it and click Settings in the top-right corner:
The chart settings share a similar general structure across Cycle time histogram, Cycle time trend, and Time in status views:
1. Chart name and description
At the top, you can rename your chart and add a description.
2. Save, export, and help menu
Use the top-right controls to:
Explore other apps by Broken Build (link to Marketplace).
Import/export settings.
Access help (release notes, documentation, report an issue).
Save or close the chart.
3. Chart scope and grouping
Select which time frame and issue states (completed, open, or status-changed) are included in the chart scope, and define how the x-axis is grouped - by sprints, weeks, months, or another interval.
4. Visualization settings
Customize how the data is displayed on the chart. Select time units for Cycle or Lead time, choose which statistical measures to show, add highlights or target lines, and switch between Absolute, Ratio, or Average views to analyze data from different perspectives.
5. Chart views
Switch between the Cycle time histogram, Cycle time trend, and Time in status tabs.
6. Right panel
Use the collapsible right-hand panel to adjust:
Data source – boards, projects, releases, epics, JQL, etc.
Calculation – Select the metric (Cycle time or Lead time), define custom statuses and status groups, and choose whether to measure calendar time or working time only.
Issue filter – filter by issue type, epic, release, JQL, etc.
7. Main chart area
The main chart area visualizes delivery metrics (Cycle time, Lead time, or Time in status) using bars or lines, depending on the chart type.
Hover over any element to view detailed tooltips with values, percentiles, and totals.
Click on chart segments to open the Breakdown and Issue list below.
The chart dynamically updates as you adjust filters, intervals, and calculation options.
8. Breakdown and issue list
Below the chart, review:
Breakdown table – segment data by board, project, issue type, status, assignee, etc.
Issue list – view the exact issues behind each metric, with links back to Jira.
9. App version
The current version of the app is shown at the bottom of the page, with a link to Marketplace.
