The Compact view option controls how evenly values are distributed on the x-axis. You can toggle it on or off at any time using the switch in the top-right corner of the chart.
When disabled:
The chart displays the full range of cycle or lead times, from the smallest to the largest, evenly distributing bars and labels for all values, including outliers. This layout allows you to see the complete picture, but it can stretch the chart very far.
In the example below, the chart labels every second cycle time (2, 4, 6… up to 74). The 95th percentile appears near the middle of the x-axis, so most of the chart space is occupied by outliers:
When enabled:
The chart displays separate bars and labels for cycle times with more issues, and groups outliers together.
In the example below, all short cycle times are labeled individually (1, 2, 3…), while longer ones (34–74) are grouped. This makes the 95th percentile appear closer to the end of the chart, providing a more focused view of typical delivery times:
Use Compact view when:
You want to focus on the most common delivery durations.
The chart becomes difficult to read because of dense or overlapping x-axis labels.
You want a simplified view for presentations or stakeholder reports.
