Above the chart

The Time in status chart can display data in absolute, ratio, and average views - each offering a different perspective on how work flows through your process. You can select the view in the dropdown above the chart:

Absolute view

In this view, the Y-axis shows time units (e.g., weeks) (1️⃣). Each stacked bar represents the total time all issues spent in each status during a sprint or interval, with the bar height reflecting the total duration (2️⃣).

When you hover over the chart (3️⃣) or check the Breakdown (4️⃣), you can see both:

  • the total time all issues spent in each status, and

  • the percentage this time represents out of the total across all statuses.

In the Issue list (5️⃣), you can view how much time each individual work item spent in every status.

The calculation respects your work schedule - only working hours are counted. For example, if your schedule defines 8-hour workdays and 5-day weeks, 2 days = 16 hours (not 24) and 2 weeks = 10 days = 80 hours.

Use this view to see how much time in total your team spent in each workflow stage.

Ratio

In the ratio view, the Y-axis displays percentages (0 – 100 %) (1️⃣). Each stacked bar has equal height but shows relative time proportions between statuses (2️⃣).

Hovering (3️⃣), Breakdown (4️⃣) and Issue list (5️⃣) reveal the same details as in the Absolute view:

  • the total time all issues spent in each status,

  • the percentage this time represents out of the total across all statuses, and

  • how much time each individual work item spent in every status.

Use this view to compare relative time distribution between workflow stages across sprints or teams.

Average

In this view, you can select a statistical measure - Mean, Median (50 %), 85 %, 95 %, or a custom percentile:

Each status is displayed as a separate bar, showing how long issues spent in that status on average (or median, percentile, etc.) (1️⃣). The selected measure also appears in the Breakdown table (2️⃣) and is represented by horizontal lines on the chart - one for each status group (3️⃣).

Hovering over a sprint or interval displays the selected statistic values for each status and for the group as a whole (4️⃣).

The Issue list still shows absolute values for each work item (5️⃣).
