Estimation change

Estimation change

Definition

The difference between an issue’s estimate before the sprint started and after the sprint was finished.

If an issue was added during the sprint, it is counted as Added work, even if its estimate is later changed.

Category

Scope changes.

Formulas:

  • Final commitment = Initial commitment + Added work + Estimation change – Removed work

  • Total scope change = Added work + Estimation change – Removed work

In Sprint 3, estimation changes made up 20% of the Final Commitment. Together with added and removed work, they contributed to a total scope change of 26.25%. This suggests that the team should estimate work more carefully.
