Several applications have been developed to manage Scaled Agile Organizational Structures in Jira that extend beyond basic Projects and Boards. These tools integrate Programs, ARTs, Portfolios, Products, and Product Lines for comprehensive reporting and utilize custom JQL filters for precise data scope in Velocity and Burnup Charts.

A challenge arises with Sprint Metrics (e.g., Final Commitment, Removed Work) for larger organizational units like Divisions or Product Lines. These units often comprise dozens of teams, each with team-level Scrum boards. When creating new charts, selecting numerous boards as data sources is required, which can be cumbersome.

To address this, we introduced the 'Board Set' feature. It simplifies aggregating Sprint Metrics for large units by allowing the selection of multiple boards as a single data source with one click, streamlining chart creation, and ensuring organizational structure reflection in Jira.

The Board Set creates a unified JQL filter linked to the board IDs, adhering to Jira's permission schema. Its use requires permissions for all included boards. Board set creation is limited to Jira admins, but all users with relevant permissions can utilize them.

Jira Admins can create and edit Board Sets easily via a tab in Global Settings or in Chart Settings:
