Burnup & Burndown Charts 1.0 release notes (Dec 20, 2024)

Fast-forward a few months of intense discovery, design sprints, product decisions, and trade-offs… and we’re thrilled to announce that the Burnup/Burndown Charts App is officially ready for Jira Cloud! (The Jira DC version is coming).

Here’s why we are so proud of this first release (even with those out-of-scope features still sitting in our backlog):

  1. A Beautiful UX: You get an interactive chart right on your Jira dashboard, and it gets even better. You can tweak settings in a full-screen modal window, instantly seeing how your chart updates in real time.

  2. Less is More: Instead of flooding the app with countless charts, we focused on one gadget that offers two types of charts. These cover the key Jobs-to-be-Done (JTBD) around Tracking progress and Forecasting. You can effortlessly switch between them—no reconfiguration needed.

  3. Deep Jira Integration: You can slice and dice your data in ways you haven’t even imagined. Want to understand your Remaining work and how high-priority stories compared to medium-priority tech tasks? It’s a 3-click task! Custom issue types like Initiatives or Program Epics are fully supported, too. You can even select a specific Initiative as a data source to monitor the Team’s progress and Forecast delivery date.
