Work schedule

It is possible to configure the Work schedule on the Getting started page or in the chart settings.

Any user can access and modify these settings for the entire Jira instance.

Chart settings

The Work schedule settings allow users to configure the working days, hours and breaks for more accurate metrics calculation in all charts.

Here's how each section functions:

  • Time zone: select the relevant time zone that the work schedule will follow.

  • Work days: choose which days of the week are considered workdays.
All unselected weekdays will be considered as weekends.

  • 24 hours per day option:

    • If enabled, the system assumes a 24-hour workday without considering specific work hours or breaks; the Work hours and Breaks fields are automatically blocked, as they are no longer relevant to the calculations.

    • If disabled, the fields “Work hours” and “Breaks” are available for configuration.

  • Work hours: set specific start and end times for each workday.

    • This field is available only if the 24 hours per day toggle is switched off.

  • Breaks: Define regular break periods within the workday to exclude them from working time calculations.

    • This option is available only when 24 hours per day is switched off.

  • Holidays: add specific holidays that should be excluded from workday calculations. You can also set recurring holidays by checking the "Repeat every year" box.

These settings directly affect the Calculation methods for all charts in the application:

  • If the Calendar option is selected for a chart, weekends, holidays, and time zone settings will be considered.

  • If the Duration option is selected, only working days (no weekends or holidays) and hours (no breaks time) defined by the work schedule will be used for calculating metrics such as Cycle and Lead Time.

This ensures precise tracking and analysis based on the actual working time relevant to your business processes.
